Did you know that we have over 600 muscles in our bodies and that it makes up more than 40% of our body weight? Muscles are a vital part of our everyday movement and function. Things from eating, walking, talking, and even breathing. Muscles also protect organs that are in our bodies as well. To go more in depth about muscles, first let’s find out exactly what are muscles.
A bundle of cells makes up a muscle and inside of those muscles are what’s called fibers. Myosin and actin are the two proteins that are found in the fibers. Each bundle of fiber is wrapped in a thin skin called perimysium. The bigger the muscle, the more fibers the muscle has. Muscles also have nerves that called message centers, just like the rest of the body. These message centers send messages from the brain to the muscles to tell them what to do.
