Subsoil exploration is the investigation of the natural soil deposit before construction of any structures upon or near it. This is mainly done for collecting the disturbed and undisturbed sample for laboratory tests, for determining the depth of bed rock underneath and to access the drainage condition in the site. This also done for in-situ soil tests like vane shear test, permeability test and standard penetration test. We can also get the position of water table from the exploration.
Soil exploration is generally divided into four phases:
1.Determining the existing information upon the structure to be constructed:
This phase will has the conclusion regarding the type of proposed structure, the local building codes, load bearing conditions. The future usage and expansion of the plot will also be considered at this stage.
