The Comparative Study of Freight Forwarding Practices in the Philippines and China
Freight forwarding is the coordination and shipment of goods from one place to another via a single or multiple carriers via air, marine, rail or highway.
The importance of freight forwarding for global trade was recognized in Canada in 1948 with the establishment of the Canadian International Freight Forwarders Association (CIFFA). CIFFA recognized that forwarding freight, whether by land, marine, rail or air requires coordination, regulation and agreed-upon best practices to ensure that goods flow in a timely and proficient manner across borders, overseas, and throughout the world.
Freight shipping service providers, commonly known as freight forwarders and customs brokers, are companies that arrange the transportation of goods from shippers to receivers. The industry doesn’t include carriers that directly handle cargo, logistics management consultants, or supply chain management software manufacturers.
Demand is driven by domestic manufacturing output and levels of international trade. The profitability of individual companies depends on efficient operations, extensive relationships in shipper and carrier networks, and industry expertise. Large companies have advantages in account relationships and access to advanced logistics technologies. Small operations can compete effectively by serving a local market, specializing in cargo transfer with specific countries, and facilitating the transport of unusual goods.
This study will focus on the comparison of freight forwarding practices of Philippines and China mainly it’s differences and similarities in the said field. The researchers also bound to conduct this research for further reference of the future generations. The researchers also believe that in doing this study they can add more information and knowledge to the proponents of this research so as for the benefit of the two nations focused on this study, other nations, province, or regions all around the globe.
