The novel trash written by Andy Mulligan is set in an unnamed third world country. Three main boys which are Raphael, Gardo and Rat live in a dumpsite they discover a leather bag containing a wallet that had eleven hundred pesos, a note and an I.D card in Behala Dump while searching for trash to sell. Then they found themselves getting in trouble having to run from the police that were in search for the bag they have found. They start cracking codes, investigating clues and experiencing interrogation. Through an analysis of characterization, point of view, reader positioning and setting we can see the main themes in the novel “Trash” are Poverty, Friendships and Corruption.
