William Mckinley was the 25th president of the United States of America

William Mckinley was the 25th president of the United States of America. He was born on January 29, 1843 in Niles Ohio. He was short lived because of his assassination at the start of his second term on September 14, 1901. He was in term from March 4, 1897 – September 14, 1901. William Mckinley was in the republican party for his presidency. He ran with Theodore Roosevelt as his vice president in office. After his assassination in 1901, Theodore Roosevelt preceded his legacy and took over in office as president. William Mckinley was raised by is Father William Mckinley Sr. and his Mother Nancy Allison Mckiley. He grew up with his four brothers and sisters, his two sisters Helen Minerva Mckinley and Anna Mckinley, and also his two brothers David Allison Mckinley and James Rose Mckinley. He had a wife and one daughter. His wife Ida Saxton Mckinley and his daughter Katherine Mckinley. He was a family man and cared deeply about his family and friends. Before William became president he enlisted as a private during the Civil War. He earned the rank of Major in 1865 for being such a strong leader. From 1876 to 1890 He served in congress, and became a strong supporter of protective tariffs. Then He was elected president in 1897. A few historical events that happened while William was president is very intriguing. The first shipment of gold about $750,000 discovered in Alaska was shipped to San Francisco in 1897. Also president Mckinley orders 125,000 volunteers to fight in the war on Spain. Congress passes the War Revenue Act, which makes $150 million of tax revenue a year from taxes on beer, tobacco, amusement, and business transactions. President William Mckinley had many achievements as president. He won the Battle of Las Guasimas, which was the first major battle of the Spanish-American War. Also He was one of the best leaders to ever live helping lead to the victory of the Spanish-American War. After the Start of his second term he was assassinated by Leon Czolgosz, an anarchist, on September 6, 1901. While shaking hands with the public he was shot in the abdomen two consecutive times.
